Greetings All,
I am sorry that this weeks blog took a little be longer to get out. I have been busy with performing so I was not able to post until now. Nevertheless, I am very excited about this weeks blog. It is simply about FEAR and everything it represents. FEAR of the UNKNOWN, FEAR of PEOPLE and most of all the ultimate FEAR of SELF and why in the world it happens. This weeks blog is inspired by the powerful song Fear by Jazmine Sullivan. If you have not heard this incredible song, I suggest you jump on the band wagon of inspiration. Lol. This song represents the everyday battle people experience regarding fear, but are just too afraid to share it with other people or even admit it to themselves. For instance, when I was younger, fake things like monsters, dark spaces, and scary movies were the cause of my fear, but nowadays those childish fears have been replaced with adult insecurities stemmed from everyday challenges in life. I have learned that those fears at times have affected my judgement, self esteem and even my goals. But one day I asked myself a few the questions Why is Fear So Powerful? Why can Fear stop someone from living the life they want? Where does fear come from and finally, Why am I so Fearful? After much thought, I realized that Fear belongs to everyone. No one is exempt from the effects of Fear. Honestly, I do not think I know anyone that at some point in time has not been fearful of something? Whether it be small fears such as finally being honest with someone or meeting someone for the first time to larger things such as stage fright, or even fear of death, we have all experienced that nervous feeling of butterflies throughout our stomach when we are faced with the unknown and if we are not careful, our fears can and will consume us. In the event that fear does set in, I have learned that it is best to look inside yourself and figure out where your fear stems from. Is is something from your past, or could it be a result of something that someone may have said about you? The truth is fear always has a root and it is up to us to find out what and where it is and pluck it before it grows into something we cannot control. We have to learn how to find comfort in things that naturally cancel out fear, such as confidence, understanding and most of all prayer. As a performer, I remember a time when my whole life was full of fear. It was so much apart of my life that I did not really know myself and was not comfortable in my own skin. I had to find security in both my music and personality on and off stage. You must realize that you are not human without fear but, I encourage you to take time and conquer this issue especially if it is hindering you from reaching new heights. Getting rid of fear is like losing those few unwanted pounds. You will feel lighter, better about life and have the ability to accomplish everything you wish without that little thing called FEAR holding you down. Always remember that Loving and Trusting God first will allow you to live a life of peace and happiness. So let Go and let God

Live by the words" Im Doing Me" Fantasia
Greetings everyone, I am very happy to write my first blog. I decided to create a blog that would allow me to share my journey through performing as it relates to life and inspire those indivisuals who wish to pursue their dreams but lack the courage to fufill them. So every week, I will pick a song(Could be anything)as a theme of a designated topic. I believe the power of music is both healing and meaningful in our lives and it is my hope that through my words, encouragement and wisdom will continue to resonate through your soul. So here Goes.......
The other day, while driving, I heard Fantasia Burrinos new single entitled "I'm Doing Me". I was quite intrigued by the words and the catchy beat and instantly knew that it would be my first subject matter for this blog. Although the whole song has a wonderful meaning it is the chorus that makes me feel great about the current happenings in my life. The words are simply, "I'm Doing Me this time around, I'd rather be by myself, I won't let your drama hold me down, no." She is clearly referring to a man throughout the song but I find that even if you are not experiencing relationship problems, there are other aspects in life such as family, friends or even major self esteem issues that can be a major hinderence towards ones ability to be comfortable being themselves.
As a performer, I can honeslty say that I was probably able to completely "DO ME" about a year ago. This is ironic seeing as how I have been performing since the tender age of three. I was always on stage, always peforming and singing but still I was trapped in my own insecurities to the point were my happiness became more about what others thought of me rather than what I thought of myself. Many times I ask myself, "Will this person like me? "What if they do not like the way I sing? " What if they do not like what I am wearing?" It was like playing a guessing game with myself. I had been running the coarse of that game for too long until one day I asked myself the game winning question." WHY DOES IT MATTER TO ME WHAT THEY LIKE, WHAT DO I LIKE?" It was like an ephiphany, realizing that I was letting other peoples opinions define who I was instead of listening to my own feelings and just DOING ME. From that day forwad the chains were broken and I was not a prisoner of my insecurities anymore. Now, I no longer care if people wont like a particular dress, shoe or hairstyle that I choose and furthermore I no longer entertain the negativity that can often surround a career in performing . I know me better than I know myself LOL and DOING ME has been the best thing, because I am more comfortable in my lifestyle, fashion, religion and most of all my artistry. I encourage you to look at yourself and find out what you like. Make a catergorized list of your favorite things like your favorite book, store or even your favorite dessert. I promise you there is nothing more beautiful than knowing your worth and appreciating YOURSELF. So after you read this blog, go to your mirror and tell that person that you see in the reflection- " Im Doing Me this Time Around"
